Breathe in the calm of the rolling countryside vista, where neat rows of vines, the cheerful chorus of birds, and the gentle presence of Magic, the resident donkey, set the rhythm of peaceful days and promised adventure. Morning coffee snuggled in the Adirondack chairs and early suppers around the bistro table, a glass of fizz in hand as the BBQ sizzles with locally sourced Red Poll and award-winning rare breed pork sausages.

As evening descends, slip into your bubbling hot tub beneath the twinkling stars, letting the quiet of the countryside wash over you. For an extra touch of indulgence, whatever the season, the farm also offers a private indoor heated pool and sauna, available to book.

Staying at
The Hare

Quick guide to your location

If you choose to book your stay at Hill House Farm, you will find yourself stepping into the heart of the Brecks countryside, where rolling fields, open skies, and the gentle rhythm of rural life set the pace for your holiday. Here, peaceful days unfold naturally: morning light spilling across the meadows, birdsong drifting through the air, alongside Magic, the gentle resident donkey, and our small flock of chickens.

You will find everything you need nearby. East Harling offers a Co-op, a chemist, a butcher, and a baker for everyday essentials. For more extensive shopping, the towns of Diss, Thetford, and Attleborough host larger supermarkets, while Wymondham boasts a Waitrose. If you enjoy fresh, local produce, a visit to Wyken Vineyard near Stanton on a Saturday morning is a must. Its renowned Farmers’ Market overflows with bread, cheese, fish, meat, fruit, and vegetables, while the bistro and country store invite you to linger over a relaxed lunch or discover unique gifts and homeware.

For those who love to explore, endless walks and footpaths await. Knettishall Heath, Thetford Forest, and the historic Peddars Way all provide opportunities to wander and feel fully immersed in this unique landscape. Birdwatchers will delight in identifying local wildlife with the Merlin Bird ID app, turning birdsong into a living soundtrack.

When it comes to dining, you are well placed to enjoy a variety of excellent local options. Nearby pubs and restaurants include The Red Lion in Kenninghall, The Angel in Larling, and The Boars in Spooner Row, all offering welcoming atmospheres and satisfying menus. The Market Place in Kenninghall is a popular spot for relaxed breakfasts and lunches, while Grain at the Distillery, just outside East Harling, provides a contemporary dining experience in a unique setting.

For something a little different, New Saffron in Thetford offers refined Indian cuisine, while Wyken Vineyard is also a wonderful choice for breakfast or lunch, particularly at weekends.

If you prefer a quiet night in, there are several convenient takeaway options nearby. Harling Fish and Chip Shop is a reliable favourite, a Chinese takeaway can be found in Botestale (around 15 minutes away), and 7 Spices in Attleborough offers Indian takeaway with delivery to the door.

You will find the perfect balance here to savour the very best of South Norfolk, whatever the season.
