Thornham has a way of drawing you outdoors. Take the path past the old harbour, with salt marsh on either side and the beach waiting beyond. Afterwards, wander through Drove Orchards, browsing its independent shops and farm shop before picking up something delicious from Gurney’s Fish. Stay a little longer for coffee at The Old Store, fish and chips at Eric’s or pizza in Eric’s yurt. With the Norfolk Coast Path and RSPB Titchwell Marsh close by, there’s every reason to stay out until the last of the light fades.

A Brief History of Thornham
Thornham’s quiet lanes have seen more than they let on. Archaeological finds tell of life here in Roman times, while the old quay recalls a village shaped by trade and the sea. By the late 18th century, smugglers were part of its story too, bringing danger to a coastline that today feels wonderfully peaceful.
Walk through the village now and those earlier lives are still close: in the centuries-old church, the flint walls and the old buildings beside the harbour. Thornham has changed, but it has never lost its sense that there’s a story around the next corner.
