Original features, beautifully proportioned rooms and carefully curated interiors celebrate the home's rich heritage, while the adjoining Pool House offers a lighter, contemporary feel with vaulted ceilings and expansive glazing overlooking the pool and walled garden. Whether you're marking a special occasion or simply escaping to the countryside, every space has been designed for unhurried days and memorable moments together.

Inside

Designed with comfort and connection in mind, the interiors are generous, welcoming and full of character. Elegant reception rooms with roaring fires offer peaceful places to unwind, while the spacious farmhouse kitchen, complete with breakfast table, and formal dining room naturally become the heart of every celebration. Seven beautifully appointed bedrooms provide restful sanctuaries, while the Pool House brings a lighter, contemporary feel with double-height ceilings, walls of glass and open-plan living that spills effortlessly onto the gardens. A separate games room with its own wood-burning stove offers another inviting space to gather after days spent exploring.

The gardens are every bit as memorable as the house itself. Long lunches unfold beneath the sail-covered outdoor dining terrace before afternoons spent in the heated swimming pool, on the full-size tennis court or enjoying table tennis, croquet, badminton and football on the lawns. Twelve complimentary bicycles invite you to discover the surrounding countryside, while beautifully planted borders, mature trees and peaceful corners create endless opportunities to simply pause and soak it all in. As evening falls, gather around the fire pit beneath wide Norfolk skies before retreating indoors.

Staying at
Vicarage House and Pool House

Quick guide to your location

Beyond the garden, Norfolk begins to unfold at its gentlest pace. Great Hockham sits on the edge of the beautiful Brecks, where quiet lanes lead to ancient woodland, heather-clad heathland and miles of peaceful walking and cycling trails. Spend slow mornings beneath the pines of Thetford Forest, picnic beside the lakes at High Lodge or take to the treetops with Go Ape for an adventure amongst the canopy. Discover the hidden beauty of the Great Eastern Pingo Trail, where rare landscapes and wildlife change with every season, or lose yourself in the timeless surroundings of Oxburgh Hall, with its magnificent moated manor, gardens and parkland. Whether you're pulling on walking boots, packing up the bikes or simply seeking a little stillness, this is a landscape that invites you to breathe deeply and linger a little longer.

When it's time to venture further, Norfolk's market towns are all within easy reach. Browse independent shops, explore the history and riverside walks of Thetford or spend an afternoon wandering the elegant streets of Bury St Edmunds. Food lovers are equally well catered for, with leisurely lunches at the award-winning Leaping Hare at Wyken Vineyard, artisan coffee and seasonal dishes at The Grain Kitchen, or a visit to English Whisky Co. at St George's Distillery, where guided tours and tastings celebrate England's pioneering single malt whisky. As the day draws to a close, return to the peace of the countryside, where spectacular sunsets, star-filled skies and the comforting quiet make every evening feel wonderfully unhurried.

What a fabulous home to celebrate an 80th birthday! Thank you so much for such perfection. Loved the gardens and thoroughly enjoyed using all the facilities - the babies of the group loved the pool. Again, thank you

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. We have had the most relaxing time and couldn't have asked for a better place to switch off. The pool house was fantastic, the gardens are absolutely beautiful, the boys made the most of every minute - swimming, football and exploring the grounds. Jake especially appreciated the time spent learning about the lawn mower, which was an unexpected highlight! It really has been the perfect family break with amazing weather being an added bonus! Thank you for your hospitality. We would absolutely love to return one day.
