THORNHAM
Thornham has a way of drawing you outdoors. Take the path past the old harbour, with salt marsh on either side and the beach waiting beyond. Afterwards, wander through Drove Orchards, browsing its independent shops and farm shop before picking up something delicious from Gurney’s Fish. Stay a little longer for coffee at The Old Store, fish and chips at Eric’s or pizza in Eric’s yurt. With the Norfolk Coast Path and RSPB Titchwell Marsh close by, there’s every reason to stay out until the last of the light fades.
Why You’ll Love THORNHAM
Thornham sits within the Norfolk Coast National Landscape, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty where the scenery seems to change with every shift in the light. Follow a winding footpath and you might find yourself watching birds gather over the fields, or pausing where the sky opens wide above the dunes.
Back in the village, flint cottages line the lanes and award-winning pubs give you every reason to make an evening of it. There’s pleasure in having nowhere particular to be: one more turn around the village, one more glass at the table, and tomorrow’s plans left until morning.

A Brief History of Thornham
Thornham’s quiet lanes have seen more than they let on. Archaeological finds tell of life here in Roman times, while the old quay recalls a village shaped by trade and the sea. By the late 18th century, smugglers were part of its story too, bringing danger to a coastline that today feels wonderfully peaceful.
Walk through the village now and those earlier lives are still close: in the centuries-old church, the flint walls and the old buildings beside the harbour. Thornham has changed, but it has never lost its sense that there’s a story around the next corner.
